Keep separate official books
Authorized real records may be used during beta testing, but your church must continue separate official bookkeeping and compare both systems with source documents. Reconcile deposits, bank balances, fund balances, income, expenses, and giving details. Parallel books do not remove security or privacy risks.
Accounting checks have limits
Automated tests and balanced debits and credits help find errors. They do not prove source records are complete, gifts are classified correctly, restrictions are satisfied, transactions were authorized, or fraud is absent. Historical budget suggestions reflect entered records, which may be incomplete or unusual. Review reports with an appropriately qualified person.
No professional or tax certification
The software does not provide professional accounting, legal, tax, payroll, investment, or audit advice. Giving statements do not determine deductibility or satisfy every acknowledgment rule automatically. Your church must review statements, goods-and-services disclosures, official filings, and required external reports.
UMC guidance supports your review
Citations and checklists organize information. They do not replace the current Book of Discipline, conference policy, an independent audit, or a decision by the proper church body. Completing a checklist is not an audit opinion or compliance certification. StewardLift is not endorsed or certified by The United Methodist Church.
Giving insights need context
A giving pause flags a pattern in recorded entries. It does not establish a donor’s finances, commitment, intent, or need for care. Check underlying records and context before following up. Limit sensitive notes to what authorized reviewers need.
Security and operations remain under development
Independent security validation and production operational readiness are incomplete. No security certification, absolute confidentiality guarantee, uptime commitment, or recovery-time guarantee is claimed. Do not enter credentials, full card or bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, payroll tax records, or other excluded sensitive information. Maintain independent records and secure exports.
Connections and recovery are limited
Live bank sync, payments, payroll processing, and automatic email delivery are not connected. An administrator’s identity check alone does not verify an email address. The recipient must confirm the email-bound link manually delivered to their saved mailbox. Password recovery depends on a saved recovery code or a private Master Administrator-issued link after an identity check. Private operator recovery copies are retained without automatic deletion during beta. Self-service deletion and in-app restore are not available.
